I think you missed my point.
I agree that you don’t need entanglement to have a quantum computer but the vast majority of the hardware he’s actually living on is just ordinary consumer grade stuff.
The only way that I see for him to access a “3rd bit” is through entanglement.
Well, he could direct the manufacture of the proper components but it would still take a long time to balance out the sheer volume of non-quantum hardware.
