The Compendiums ranged from good to outstanding. John really created some wonderful short stories here. I’m a little concerned that some of those stories could hold a larger impact down the line or to the major overall story. I do hope that if this is the case there is a fast recap for readers if they are just reading the main book series.
My personal favorites was the story around Arkady and the nod to what he did in the finally story in Orlando. The other key story was dealing with the College Arcane students. It might just be me but there is a lot of magic around that setting. Summer Reign does go back to College Arcane but it is really just a tool to show the evolution of Declan.
Also I live in Orlando so the final story hit close to home.
