ParticipantIt took me a bit to settle into Tanya’s voice but thought it was a great story… and I was completely blown away by what happened!

ParticipantLiked it a lot. The settling in to Tanya’s voice was a problem for me as well. Not the author fault just used to seeing it from another view point.

ParticipantReally liked this book. Does anybody think Declan met another half sister in this book?

ParticipantI’m rewatching the What We Do In The Shadows movie and there are multiple vampires I think in the entire What We Do In The Shadows series that are older than The Ancient in Darkkin Queen.

ParticipantI think FS7 is referring to the young witch that blessed the blankets. When her and her mother left and she saw Stacia and Declan hug and maybe kiss, can’t remember now, her face changed.
The description was very brief, and I assumed it was an elf under a potion of some kind, kind of like they used in Summer Reign, or a shapeshifter/ monster of some kind that hasn’t been introduced to the reader yet.

ParticipantIf I remember correctly, and there’s no guarantee of that, the ‘face change’ was due to the rage she suddenly displayed and, according to the book, it was due to her jealousy over such a valuable witch being with a werewolf, so I don’t think the sister thing is a strong possibility… unless John is going to take things in an icky direction. lol

I agree with you about the sister thing as personally Iam tired of all the jealousy’s and overly complicated relationships at this moment. Almost stopped reading because of it and personally John doesn’t need to go there’s to make a brilliant book. Agin this is just meJune 27, 2020 at 5:07 pm #29417DoctorChild
ParticipantI’ve got a question.
Lilith said to Belphagor this:
“I FOUGHT A MEMBER OF THE HOST WHO WAS ARMORED AND ARMED LIKE AN ARCHANGEL, BUT FOUGHT LIKE A RANKED DEMON LORD OF HELL AND COMMANDED THE POWERS OF AN ANCIENT VAMPIRE.”Do you think see was referring to ancient vampires in general or was she referring to The Ancient?

ParticipantBecause she used the word AN, I assumed she meant ancient vampires in general, not The Ancient, especially seeing as how powerful The Ancient was in Darkkin Queen.

ParticipantJust finished my second read-through, and this time it was easier to ‘hear’ it in Tanya’s voice. Although I noticed that it didn’t change my opinion about Tanya’s character as much as CAECO did for Caeco. In that book we saw Caeco’s character developing, especially through her interactions with her team. In Darkkin Queen Tanya’s less likable characteristics (jealousy and competitiveness) are still there, although the jealousy seems to be tapering off.
Another thing that has been hinted at that we haven’t seen yet is Tanya becoming a spiritual leader for the vampires, showing them that their souls are not lost. That’s likely coming up soon, following the scene with Galina in the chapel. Hopefully that change will affect her, allowing her to shed the more unattractive aspects of her character.

ParticipantWhich brings up what vampires have she met in the past and if you haven’t already here is the link for the wiki for people to edit it.

ParticipantAbout the jealousy thing. We need to remember the people we’re talking about aren’t mundane humans. Wolves, for example, are extremely territorial and fight for mates. That, in my opinion, would make the jealousy another facet of their personalities and perhaps something not easily controlled.
