I thought it was OK, not ground-breaking. Interesting that he’s still bringing in new characters.
The main problem is the difficulty in writing from different points of view and giving each story its own voice. We end up having to identify the narrator from clues in the story rather than they way they talk/think. Not an easy thing to do, but it really shows up in a short story collection like this.
The ones I mostly disliked were the one with Caicos Mack and Jetta As Caicos doesn’t realy contribut as much as the Other two and still can’t get overs delan snd Stacia. As well as being a vey bland character and the one about Declan childhood As we already know a lot of all the event
It’s just some preparation for the arrival of the Vorsook. I want Declan and Stacia to explore more about fairy. They have less engagement with the Winter and Summer Court, I want to know more about the experiment of both Queens for their weapons.
I so dislike the whole idea of Fairy and all its trappings… but John handles it in a way that makes it tolerable. Still, I’d like to be done with it.
I liked it. I love the Demon Accords world, so it was great just to listen to another audio book of all new stuff with these characters in this world. I can listen to them doing just normal shit, I’ve come to enjoy the characters that much.
I’d have liked another Nika mission. I enjoyed her solo one in one of the past Compendiums. I’m also Still holding out hope for an Elder Senka POV 🙂
I too detest any story with CAECO in it. I think she is by far the worst character still around in the series and her time should definitely come to an end as soon as possible. I don’t mind him bringing in more characters, however they need to be used more than just brought in and maybe have one small sentence where they come up in another book. There are so many characters already that are supporting characters that if you are going to bring in more they really need to see some use or value otherwise it doesn’t seem necessary.
Is there a print copy of Volume 3? Only use audio books when I drive, and don’t do much long haul driving anymore. Thanks
