Crud, forgot to mention, the tree Declan talks about is grows outside the restaurant his aunt owns and where they live.

Declan is talking about the Rowan tree which is known for its protective qualities and is also known as the Mountain Ash. You can find it described as such in Greek mythology and elsewhere. I believe Harry Potter’s wand is Rowan wood but it’s been a long time since I’ve read those books.

Just in case you don’t know, The Demon Accords on Vella are background books to John’s Demon Accords series, which is phenominal and starts with “God Touched”

Personally, the only thing I can tell you about Rowan wood is, if it’s the same Moutain Ash that grew in my yard when I was a kid, the red berries would make birds drunk in the fall when they ate them and they flocked to the tree. We’d have them fly into windows and find them unable to get off the ground without having hit anything.

Of course, after a little time to think about my response, I have to admit I blew it.

They deal with dragons while on Fey.

But in my defense, anything to do with Fey is not my cup of tea. John does an amazing job with it all but it isn’t something I will ever warm up to. So, Fey has dragons but that’s all I can tell you.

The only dragon I remember is Draco.

I think you can take Stacia’s own words for who she wants to be with when she said to Declan “You go, I go.”

Or words to that affect. She told him that if he dies, she dies because she would no longer want to live. Seems pretty clear to me.

It could continue just as well with what Katrina is up to when she’s not with Chris and crew, which is actually surprisingly little.

One step as a time. Do what you feel up to doing and we’ll enjoy whatever it is. I got to admit I’m enjoying the Vella stories a lot more than I thought I would. The insight is intriguing and helped me get more out of the re-read of Demon Accords I’m in the middle of at the moment.

I saw that and, as much as I’d like to see the characters come to life, I know Hollywood would screw it up totally.

I’d love to see a “reunion” of some sort between Chris and the kids he went to high school with, especially the one he went into the haunted house with.

And, call me crazy, but I’m thinking Gramps and Lydia would make an awesome couple.

Gotta admit the events surrounding Alex seemed sort of convenient, at first. But, given what’s already happened with Alex, it isn’t that much of a surprise that he would not only do well but thrive. All you need do is think back to the hospital after the Dynamic Duo’s trip to the U.P. And yes, I’m trying to remain at least a little vague for those who haven’t read the books yet.

The bond Chris and Stacia have is based on the fact Stacia was exposed to a little of Chris’s blood when she was turned. It’s never been a ‘mate’ bond.

And I suggest you read a few more authors who write about shapeshifters. It isn’t an uncommon idea that the person’s animal shape is actually a sentient being in its own right, hence the ability for Stacia’s wolf to recognize their mate is Declan before Stacia.

And, if we’re talking creepy… it’s the whole white knight thing Stacia had going for Chris, especially once she knew how deep his relationship with Tanya is. Only a fool stays stuck on a person who is unavailable. And, even if it was only Stacia’s subconscience that moved on to Declan, she was smart enough to move on.

The only times Chris was even remotely interested in Stacia was when he was under what’s her name’s spell and maybe a little when his memory was gone but even then he realized he belonged with Tayna. He even tells Tayna that and explains he likes and trusts Stacia because she’s been nothing but honest with him, up to and including how she feels about him and how she thinks his relationship with Tayna will fail. She then drops into the background to wait.

And if you are paying attention, there are several small incidents when Stacia is more than a little aware of Declan and you can see their friendship building, starting with the training in the empty building. You can also see how she’s starting to care for him when she finds out what his life was like and is like. As far as their romance, John spells it out when he says her wolf has called it for Declan. It just takes Stacia a little bit of time to realize/admit what’s happened.

I can see something huge happening with Omega to help defeat the Vorsook and I think Omega is already making plans within plans to save humanity’s stupid asses.

None of you see to be considering what part her wolf played in her feelings for Declan. I got the impression it was her wolf who claimed Declan first and it took Stacia awhile to get with the program and look at Declan in a new light. I mean, in Rogues, she is clearly conflicted and doesn’t come to her senses, so to speak, until several of the men staying at the hunting camp point things out to her. But again, the wolf knows.

As for Tanya’s behavior – people and perspectives change. In the beginning, when Stacia was trying to take Chris away from her, Tanya was insecure and jealous. Then, after Trent died, she had a huge revelation and it changed a lot of things for her. So, Stacia is no longer a threat. Tanya knows she’s been with Chris basically since the beginning of time and no one is going to change that.
